The Challenges Facing Women in Business and the Media
Selected as a Young Global Leader by the World Economic Forum in March 2008, Tumi Makgabo has been a broadcaster for more than a decade, both in South Africa and for the global network CNN International. While at CNN International's headquarters in Atlanta, Tumi Makgabo co-produced and hosted the network's award winning program, "Inside Africa" providing global viewers with a fresh look at the economic, social and cultural affairs and trends on the continent.
Upon her return to South Africa, she produced “Talk with Tumi” for MNet prior to her appointment as International Affairs and Communications Manager for the 2010 FIFA World Cup Organising Committee. She resigned this post in February 2008 in order to focus on new projects.
She serves as Media Advisor and Commentator on the African Union, NEPAD and Africa International Media Summit and is a Director on the board of the African Women’s Development Fund (AWDF).
Awards include the Eagle Award, Rapport City Press Prestige Award, a DuPont and the African People’s Intercontinental Broadcaster of the Year Award
