At just 1,39 m tall, Bee Chapman is living, dynamic proof that size doesn’t count! Throughout life, she has never allowed height to get the better of her. Enormously popular through her years at Technikon and Varsity, friends soon learned never to call her ‘cute.’ She chose a tough career and made it BIG, achieving more than many of her taller counterparts.
Now Bee has turned her comedy and performance talents to the story of her life. Written and directed by foremost SA playwright Greig Coetzee, “Tall Story” is the hit one-woman motivational show that will have you rolling with laughter. Inspiring Track Record
As a performer, she has appeared in numerous productions through her seventeen year stage career bringing the Chapman spirit to a diversity of roles. She has played the artful Dodger in Oliver, the daughter Bielke in Fiddler on the Roof, an angel in Joseph, Munchkin as well as a flying monkey in the Wizard of Oz and as a puppeteer and actress in The Little Mermaid.
She has also appeared in Far from the Madding Crowd directed by John Ellis at the Playhouse, A Lad in a Lamp directed by Janice Honeyman at the Civic, Robin’s a Cruise Ou directed by Mark Graham at the Playhouse, Make em Laff directed by Gordon Mulholland and NAPAC’s Christmas Crackers.
Bee Chapman’s “Tall Story”, written and directed by Greig Coetzee played to full houses at the Adelaide Fringe Festival in Australia and at the Grahamstown Festival in 2004. “Tall Story” is fast becoming a motivational favorite in the corporate market.
On Screen, Bee appeared as Wanda in SABC’s Crossroads and as Albereich in The Ring, a film directed by Uli Edel.
As a Production Manager, she has been at the helm of a string of hit shows like Paul Slabolepszy’s and Bill Flynn’s “Running Riot”, Ian von Memerty’s “Umoja” and “A Handful of Keys”, Rex Garner’s “Absurd Person Singular”, and the launch of the ICC in Durban, which included the opening ceremony and nine days of extravaganza culminating in the “Miss Durban” Beauty Pageant and the Bheki Mseleku Jazz Concert. She was director of Production for The WinWin Group prior to launching her own production company.
