A run for the money in sports reporting!
Lebo Motsoeli is an award winning Television Presenter, voice-over artist, scriptwriter and producer and one of the top three women in sports broadcasting.
Lebo is the Anchor, Presenter and Ambassador for Countdown 2010, the 2010 official Fifa World Cup programme on SABC television (SABC 1-Tuesdays 18h30 and Saturday 13:30), broadcasting to millions of South Africans.
She joins David O’Sullivan every Sunday from 13h30 to 14h30 to host sport On2. Add to that Lebo’s role as host of the SABC Sport channel on 3, the Gymnastics and hockey programme Inside Out and Sportsbuzz, and you have one of the busiest and well known female sports presenters in SA.
Lebo gained experience in radio as a cub, learning from the masters - like Marc Gilman and Alex Jay. Today, she’s a Sport presenter on Radio 2000, the Official 2010 radio station, hosting the daily Breakfast show, from 06:00 am- 09:30 am.
A natural for the small screen, Lebo moved into the world of Sports broadcasting in 2003 as a voice over artist and scriptwriter for the youth programme Sportsbuzz. She followed this with a sports programme dedicated to women – Women in Sport. Recognition came in the form of the SAB Newcomer of the Year Merit Award in 2006 and being given the January 2007 slot in Women in Media by GSport.
Her involvement in sport also includes the programme Amakrokokroko, Pedal Talk, FNB African Soccer Show and being the face of the Siyanqoba 2010 Campaign.
She reports live every year from the Comrades Marathon, Two Oceans Marathon and Cape Argus Cycle Tour, which had her interviewing the hot Hollywood star Matt Damon in 2009. She’s also interviewed Helen Zille, Founder of Pick n Pay Raymond Ackerman and Matthews Phosa, to name a few.
In 2005, she travelled to Brazil to report on the International Wheelchair an Amputee Sports Federation World Games (IWAS Games). This was her first international reporting job for SABC Sport. She followed this success as a live Television and Radio reporter for the International Paralympics World Athletics Champions 2006 in Amsterdam. In 2007, Lebo made her mark at the Special Olympics where she reported the 10 day spectacular of 21 sporting codes with precision and flamboyant personal style. She went on to host the 2007 All Africa Games in Nigeria, a test of her sports knowledge as she was South Africa’s only link to the Continental Event. Lebo brought us the 2008 Beijing Olympic and Paralympics Games, which led to her Nomination for 2009 Best presenter in the SAB Sport Journalist of the Year Nomination.
Lebo is currently completing a degree in Communications Science. A natural born communicator, Lebo has also been in the centre of South Africa’s communication hub, Avusa Media, where she was a Lifestyle and fashion Editor for Soccerlife.
She’s also presented Glory hallelujah, the Coca Cola Game show, the Sunsilk programme and Crazy Games.
As an MC, Lebo has hosted The SA Sport Awards; SA Boxing awards; Unilever’s Global Hand-wash day; National Women’s Day at the Union Buildings and Sunsilk Launch. She was the voice in the SASOL radio campaign, the Revlon realistic radio competition and Nokia television advert, to name a few. |
