The Soap Star with the numbers, the influence, the love & the husky voice!
Famous as Nandipha in SABC 3’s hit daily soap, Isidingo, Hlubi has taken her high profile to the next level, travelling as far afield as Tanzania and Zambia as an HIV/AIDS ambassador. It’s uncanny that a fictional character battling HIV/AIDS in a soapie should lead to the actress becoming a leading spokesperson and ambassador on the epidemic. Hlubi has presented papers on the future global impact of HIV on the youth and is in demand as a spokesperson on radio across the board. Embracing her new role as an advocate is typical of this diminutive dynamo, passionate about her work, South Africa, its people and life in general.
Hlubi spent most of her childhood in the States but studied 3rd world politics and world labour law at UCT before discovering the Thespian gene. Her studies were not wasted, however. As an advocate, a speaker and popular celebrity she takes her responsibilities seriously. The subject matter of her studies and well travelled general knowledge add to her ability as a corporate MC.
She has graced the covers of most of the top SA magazines and made history as the first black non-model woman to feature on the cover of Elle.
Hlubi’s acting talents landed her a role in the Kung Fu “Shogun Khumalo Is Dying”, produced by DC Studios and she was the Presenter on the 2nd series of “It’s For Life.” Currently she can be seen as the irrepressible Tinkerbell in Peter Pan at the Civic!
Referring to herself as a “student of life” she says she’s creating her own reality and there’s no doubt there will be a huge fan base with her every step of the way. |
