Know the true spirit of Woman, through The Belly Dance
Ancient, Mysterious, Sexy and Beautiful
Contrary to what many Westerners believe, Oriental dance did not originate as a dance of seduction done by the Sultan’s concubines. It originated as a folk dance for happy occasions, like weddings, the birth of a child and festivals.
Ancient and intriguing, described as the mother of all dance forms, this unique and beautiful dance has become hugely popular outside of the Middle East, as Western women discover the joy of Oriental dancing. In South Africa, Johannesburg is the capital of the dance, with Shalimar the most famous teacher.
Known as the first lady of belly dancing, Shalimar introduced it to South Africa some 35 years ago when she formed the Belly Dancing Association SA, now managed by board members in nine provinces.
Shalimar’s studio offers a beautiful interpretation of traditional belly dancing, “Belly Fusion” which draws from Turkish, Arabic, Egyptian, Indian and Tribal styles. The soccer rage “Diski” dance is a fun recent interpretation of belly dance with a South African flavour.
Beautiful belly dancers will infuse energy into any corporate function, from gala dinners, to conference fatigue boosters, to workshops for women’s day events.
With Shalimar’s skills in original ideas and choreography, she can also offer a full length personalised show for product launches and brand building. |
